What a game! At first I thought it was a home run derby. What a way to win against the Brewers! All I can say is here we come Rangers. I have to admit I did not expect the Cardinals to make it this far. I tip my hat to the team with its no nonsense approach. A team that had the worse bullpen at the beginning of the season now have a bullpen that doesn’t crack during the playoffs. This will be the Cardinals 18th National League Pennant, and their record sixth NL title in the League Championship Series era. They’ve been NL champions three times in the past eight years. St. Louis is aiming for its 11th World Series championship — only the Yankees have more — when the 107th Fall Classic begins on Wednesday night at Busch Stadium.
Congrats to David Freese to make NLCS MVP! Freese deserved to win MVP, Freese went 3 for 4 with a homer in a four-run first inning that got the Cardinals rolling. It was his third home run of the series and fourth in the NL playoffs.
Freese also scored three times Sunday night and batted .545 (12 for 22) in the NLCS with three homers, three doubles, nine RBIs and seven runs.
His huge postseason is a local story that St. Louis can love: Freese lettered in baseball all four years at Lafayette High School in Wildwood, Mo.
