This morning I saw a very short post from the Los Angeles Times in regards to a good friend of mine Mark Alexander’s son Dylan Alexander a catcher from Simi Valley High School. The very short article read, “All league catcher Dylan Alexander of Simi Valley commits with Cal State Northridge. I am so glad to see him staying in California and attending Cal state Northridge. He is in some good company in regards to some MLB players that where involved with the Northridge baseball team. Some of the players that attended includes St.Louis Cardinals draftee and current Dodgers player Adam Kennedy. Another Cardinal draftee Chuckie Fick that was called up to help this summer for the Cardinals. Other notables include 87 Phillies Jim Vatcher, and Twins outfielder Lyman Bostick that played from 1975-78.
Dylan does have some impressive skills. Perfect Game reports that Dylan Alexander is a 2013 C/1B with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Simi Valley, CA who attends Simi Valley. Medium sized frame, good build, quick transfers and release, catch and throw tools, some arm strength, receives well, solid catching tools, aggressive approach at plate, simple swing, balanced, easy bat speed, quick hands, good student.
