David Freese: End of the Road?

With the promotion of Kolten Wong up to the majors and Matt Carpenter moving over to thirdbase, I begin to wonder if David Freese time with the Cardinals is at the end of its road. This afternoon Ken Rosenthal reported that with the Cardinals bringing up Wong could be the first step the Cards to make to trade away David Freese. At this time Freese’s production numbers are pretty low. He is at 6 HRs, 43 RBIs and batting at .265. The Cardinals do have control over him till 2015. I would tend to think it would be in the best interest for the Cardinals to try and make a waiver deal with him to another team instead of trying to move him in the off season. This off season the market for third basemen is pretty thin. I am sure some teams would want to make a move for him. I would love to see another strong starting pitcher to help this team get into the post season. My dream would to see happen is David Freese to the Phillies for Cliff Lee. Well, I can dream.
