Molina and Carp Win Silver!

I am very happy to announce that Yadi Molina and Matt Carpenter have both won the Silver Slugger Award. This award recognizes both for being the best offensive player at their position. Both Molina and Carp had tremendous offensive numbers. Carpenter was tops in extra base hits, batting average, on base percentage and run scored. Molina had batted more than .300 for the third consecutive season. He also reached a single-season high of .319 with a career high 80 runs batted in and 44 doubles, second to Carpenter in the National League. He batted .373 with men in scoring position, good for sixth in the National League. They both deserve the Silver Slugger Award. Carpenter also broke Stan Musial’s record of total doubles by a lefthanded batter. Carpenter’s total doubles were at 55, he also had a .392 on base percentage.
