This afternoon Mike Matheny, John Mozeliak and many of the other Cardinal coaches stuck around to watch Almedys Diaz show off his skills to the Cardinals Brass. The Cardinals will make a formal offer to his agent Jaime Torres in the next 24 hours. The Post Dispatch reports that Torres expects his client will make a decision to sign by Friday or Saturday. The rumors do swirl that Diaz could get as much as $30 million. The teams that are most interested includes not only the Cardinals but the Yankees, Giants, Mariners, Bluejays and the Padres. Diaz a defector from Cuba hopes to being playing on a major league team like his Cuban brothers Yasiel Puig and Alexei Ramirez. At this time the Yankees seem to be the favorite to land Diaz but I think the Cardinals still have a chance in signing this rising star. Diaz can play all three infield positions and is very advance at the plate.
