Sunday morning the Cardinals reached an agreement with Diaz for four years making less than $20 million a year. He did sign a Major League Contract but will start with the Memphis Redbirds this year. He might be like Puig in which he started out with the Dodgers minor league team and soon made his debut with the Dodgers with a bang. According to the scouts he is a better fit at second base than short stop, this makes me wonder if Diaz is the Cardinals back up plan if Wong starts the season out slowly.
Diaz will report to camp on Monday. John Mozeliak and Diaz will meet the media to discuss the signing. Matheny expects Diaz to play in the Grapefruit League to how he does with the infield positions.
