Cardinals Catcher Hal Smith Passes

I just learned that Hal Smith had passed away at the age of 82, the cause od death is not known. Hal known as cornerstone catcher in the late 1950’s had caught the likes of Larry Jackson, Lindy McDaniel, and Bob Gibson. He was also an All-Star Catcher for the Cardinals in 1957 and 1959. His best year was 1959 when he hit 13 Home Runs, 50 RBIs, and a .270 batting average. In 1965 he played briefly for the Pirates and eventually became a coach and a scout for several teams.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the Smith family.
