Alvaro Seijas, a righthanded teen pitcher from Venezuela, is one of at least a dozen players expected to receive a bonus around $1 million, according to scouting reports, though it’s unclear if it will grow that high because of a wrinkle in the market that has some of the biggest spenders unable to spend big.
Here is Alvaro Seijas’s profile:

Seijas has natural ability. He also has history on his side.
The teenager is from the Venezuelan city of Maracay in the state of Aragua. It’s home to numerous big leaguers, including Carlos Guillen, who operates the academy where Seijas trains.
Scouts love Alvaro’s stuff — specifically a fastball that has reached 94 mph — and his makeup. Like many pitchers his age, Seijas’ secondary pitches will improve as he develops.
The teenager has the advantage of working with Guillen, who can show him the ins and outs of being a professional athlete. Guillen’s athletes are well prepared for the physical and mental challenges that come with pro baseball. Make no mistake, Seijas will be a welcomed addition to any club because he can pitch and has a live arm, but having a former Major League star as a mentor doesn’t hurt.
The Cardinals are the favorite to land the teenage right-handed pitcher
