The St.Louis Cardinals have been awfully silent lately till now. Miami Herald sports writer Clark Spencer tweeted “Latos and Haren aren’t only Marlins pitchers drawing trade interest. The Cardinals are looking at reliever Steve Cishek”. I was taken back for a moment on how this would be a great move since the Cardinals have been over working reliever Trevor Rosenthal. Cishek owns a rough-looking 4.65 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 31 total innings this season and he was stripped of closer duties in May, but the 29-year-old has registered a promising 0.77 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 11 2/3 frames since returning June 12 from a short demotion to Double-A Jacksonville. Cishek would be a good pick up since he would be under control till 2017. The Marlins and Cardinals have been good trade partners before in the past. Cards have traded Zach Cox for Edward Mujica and the Braden Looper, Armando Almanza and Pablo Ozuna for Edgar Renteria. With the history between the Cardinals and the Marlins maybe they can make another great deal to get them into the post season.
