With needing much help in the hitting department the Cardinals decide to bring up Greg Garcia and option Tyler Lyons.
Garcia, 25, was batting .294 with 36 RBI through 94 games for Memphis, playing primarily at shortstop with starts at third base and second base. He ranked 20th in the Pacific Coast League in batting (.294), 4th in on-base percentage (.401) and T18th in walks (48). Garcia was named the Cardinals Minor League Player of the Month for May after batting .361 during the month. He is making his third appearance of 2015 with St. Louis and batted .350 (7-20) in 16 games in his previous games with the Cards.
Lyons, 27, had been with St. Louis since a recall on Aug. 7, his fourth time with the Big League club. During his most recent stint he made three relief appearances totaling 7.2 innings, including a scoreless 5.1 innings of relief vs. PIT (8/13).
