Vin Scully to miss Postseason

Vin Scully will not call any Dodgers postseason Major League Baseball games after undergoing an unspecified medical procedure.

The Los Angeles Dodgers made the announcement Thursday, a day before the opening game of the National League Division Series against the New York Mets.

Scully, 87, missed calling the final three regular-season games on Oct. 2-4. The Dodgers said he was resting comfortably, but released no further information.

Scully announced in late August that he had decided to return for a 67th season next year and has indicated that it will probably be his last. He has reduced his travel schedule in recent years and has been working on one-year contracts since 2009.

Scully usually calls all nine innings of the team’s home games and road games in California and Arizona for the Dodgers’ telecasts on SportsNet L.A. The first three innings of those games are simulcast on the radio.
