Hello this is John Mozeliak and no my refrigerator is not Running

John-Mozeliak-Phone This years MLB Winter Meetings will be very pressing in which what direction the Cardinals will go. As we all know is the Cardinals  #1 priority to get Jason Heyward signed. The rest of our free agents for 2016 include:

Matt Belisle, won’t be back

Randy Choate, buh bye

Carlos Villanueva, glad to know you

John Lackey, come back please

Dan Johnson, thanks for the brief stay

Mark Reynolds, would love to see you again

So what are the Cardinals plans for the 2016 season? Here are some glaring holes that needs to be fixed. As Yadi Molina numbers seem to dwindle with the amount of wear and tare on his body he will need much rest next season to keep his health up. So who on the free agent list could help as a good back up catcher? Well Geovany Soto and Dioner Navaro are free agents in 2016 that should be looked at. In our farm system Carson Kelly stands out as the best catcher in the Cardinals system but would not be considered as a back up. If they need to make a trade go for Cleveland Indians Roberto Perez, he works well with the pitchers and can drive in runs. With the lack of power the Cardinals will need to address this in the off season. Mozeliak needs to stop having tryouts at first base. We need a power bat not a fly by night hitter. The power outage makes the pitchers  work even harder, Matt Adams numbers are down, Brandon Moss is a bench player at best and Stephen Piscotty is more of a outfielder than a first baseman .  The Cardinals needs one power bat at first base. On the free agency list the only first baseman thats worth looking at is Chris Davis of the Orioles. This year Davis has hit 47 HR, 117 RBI and had a .262 BA but had 208 strikeouts The starting pitchers may stay the same if they retain John Lackey but may depart with Jaime Garcia and our bullpen will get a make over. With a new television  deal the Cardinals are strapped with cash and its time for them to finally put out a contending team that can make it to the World Series.
