According to Jon Morosi of Fox Sports, the St. Louis Cardinals “have had discussions” with Davis’ agent Scott Boras recently. Morosi adds the Cardinals “are intrigued by Davis’ ability to play first base, third base, right field and left field.” The 29-year-old has primarily played first base and DH in recent years, but he did play right field more in 2015, including a 16-game streak from June 30-July 22. I wonder if Chris Davis would be a big bonus for the Cardinals near or around Thanksgiving or could he be an early Christmas gift during the Winter Meetings in Nashville in just three weeks. For Chris Davis the Cardinals will need to be big spenders for his services. The last time they landed a big Free Agent was with Matt Holliday in 2010 when they signed him for $120,000,00 for seven years. The Cardinals has the money to land the services of a big bat like Davis. The funny thing is that both Holliday and Davis has Scott Boras as their Agent. This could get resolved soon if the Cardinals and Chris Davis can come to an agreement. At the age of 29 Chris would be able to secure a long contract and would be able to help amp up the Cardinals power which has been lacking in recent years. The last Cardinal that had hit over 30 home runs was Carlos Beltran in 2012 with 32 home runs.
