McGwire Heading to San Diego?

News have been swirling around Mark McGwire and the San Diego Padres in regards to offering him a job with the organization. According to Dennis Lind of the San Diego Union Tribune , the Padres are in discussions with former Dodgers hitting coach Mark McGwire about their bench coach job.  Recently McGwire removed his name from the Diamondbacks hitting coach job. In tend to think Big Mac may prefer to work in San Diego due to its appeal,  but the bonus is that it would be close to his home in Irvine, California. If McGwire takes the job, Lin hears from a source that he would assist both new manager Andy Green and hitting Alan Zinter.  I also tend to think McGwire wants to stay in Southern California due to being close to his family.
