The domino effect has just begun, free agent starting pitcher Jordan Zimmerman just signed a five year $110 million dollar deal. In the next two weeks we will see the other top free agent pitchers fall into place with other teams. Recently Ken Rosenthal has reported that the Cardinals are one of the top contenders for David Price. This is not that much of a surprise, since the Cardinals have shown previous interest in Price and now have an opening in their rotation with the loss of Lance Lynn. But the Cardinals will have some formidable competition in the Price sweepstakes. Rosenthal also listed the Cubs, Dodgers, Giants and Red Sox as the other top contenders for Price. As Boston seems to be raising the stakes to win his services, the team that seems to have the edge are the Cardinals. For David Price location is everything. Since his home is in Nashville, TN he is not too far from St. Louis. I tend to think that the Cardinals are willing to pay out for Price but will be weary in regards to the length of the contract. With Lance Lynn out for the year and John Lackeys possible departure to the West Coast, David Price would definitely fill in the void.
