Group Tickets for Single Games Now Available

cardsfans

Beginning today, organized groups of 20 fans or more may begin purchasing tickets to single games during the 2016 Cardinals season.  This season the club has reduced the number of people needed to qualify to the group rate to 20, down from 25.

Designed for school and church groups, family or social gatherings, company outings and more, group tickets allow fans to enjoy the game in a community environment and at a discounted price.

“No matter what type of group you have, professional or personal, Cardinals group tickets offer excellent incentives which make for a truly memorable and affordable experience,” said Justen Meyer, Manager of Group Sales.

Groups of 20 or more receive a 20% discount on Sunday through Thursday games and a 10% discount on Friday and Saturday games in a wide variety of block seating locations throughout the stadium.  Each group also receives a custom poster to promote the group outing, a personal ribbon board message during the game and a souvenir scoreboard photo.

A number of Group Value Nights are also available for the 2016 season. During Group Value Nights, groups receive 50% off the dynamic gate price in select loge and pavilion seating areas.  This year’s schedule of Value Nights includes games against the Cubs, Mets, Giants, Nationals, Pirates and more.

For more information or to purchase group tickets, fans may call 314.345.9000 or visit cardinals.com/groups.

Peralta Willing to move Positions

cardsperr

This morning on MLB Network Jon Morosi was reporting about Jhonny Peralta’s comments during last weekends Winter Warm Up here in St. Louis……“In the future I can play some different positions. It doesn’t matter for me,” Peralta said. “Whatever I have to do. I’ve played third base before and outfield and a couple games at first base. It doesn’t matter. If I’m still in the game of baseball, it doesn’t matter for me.” His comments has raised a lot of eyebrows with many MLB reporters/pundits. What do the Cardinals have up there sleeves? What we already know is that the Cardinals have interest with Ian Desmond. If its the shortstop position the Cardinals really need to upgrade on why Ian Desmond? Why not take a longer look at Aledmys Diaz. The Cardinals gave Diaz a four-year, $8 million contract two springs ago, the thought was that he might be their shortstop as early as this year, with Peralta moving somewhere else, like third base, to finish up the final two years of his four-year, $52 million contract. If Peralta moves to third base where would Matt Carpenter play, I would speculated first base. This would mean that Matt Adams could be the odd man out and possibly traded. Just thinking out loud, why not trade Adams plus a minor league pitcher for Jose Reyes and one of the Rockies outfielders? I know that Reyes wants out of there and the Rockies would love to move him, just a thought. Well let me ask my readers, who do you think would be better for the Cardinals at shortstop, Jose Reyes, Ian Desmond or Aledmys Diaz? Look forward to your comments below.

Cardinals sign Carlos Peguero

carlos

When I heard that the Cardinals signed Carlos Peguero I had to run to my laptop to see if this was true. I remember seeing him some televised Rangers games and garnered much hype on his raw power. He is known as a legit power hitter in the minors when he was with the Seattle Mariners. Peguero, 29 next month, split the 2015 season between the Rangers and Red Sox organizations, seeing action in 30 games with Texas. Peguero batted just .186 in his 84 plate appearances with the Rangers, but he also posted a .310 on-base percentage and slugged .414 thanks to the fact that eight of his 13 hits went for extra bases (four doubles, four homers). Peguero is a legitimate power threat, as evidenced by his career .276/.345/.528 batting line at Triple-A. He belted 30 homers in the minors as recently as 2014 and hit a combined 25 between the Majors and Triple-A last season. Making consistent contact, however, is an issue for Peguero, who has punched out in 39.5 percent of his Major League plate appearances and has a 31.7 percent strikeout rate in parts of five Triple-A seasons. Jennifer Langosh a writer with the St. Louis Cardinals writes that Carlos will receive an invitation to Major League Spring Training.. With having great numbers in the minors and lack luster performance, he will likely end up with the a Memphis Redbirds.

Here is some scouting information on him….

You can think of Peguero as swinging hard with his eyes closed. It’s an exaggeration, but it’s less of an exaggeration for him than it is for most players. The results have been practically the same. Every team has had players like this, some in greater numbers than others. So even if you’re not a Mariners fan, you can relate to the player type, and to what it’s like to watch such a player go about his business.

With someone like this, the raw skills are unmissable. It’s always a question of how likely the player is to make something worthwhile of the various blessings he’s been given. The Peguero ship, specifically, is beginning to set sail — he’s turning 27 in a month, and he hasn’t made progress over the last few years. But he got me thinking about a little project, based around what we could make of a rookie season like the one he had in 2011.

MLB Trade Deadline to Change

Commissioner Manfred

I found this piece of news kind of odd but it makes sense, this year is a leap year. This change is only for one year only. The non-waiver Trade Deadline this season will be moved to Aug. 1 from the traditional July 31 — which in 2016 falls on a Sunday. The deadline is 4 p.m. ET, and on July 31, there are seven games scheduled to begin between 1-1:30, five between 2-3:30 and three at 4. There are only eight games on Aug. 1, all of which are night games.

Cardinals Considering Desmond

desmond

With Justin Upton finally settling with Detroit Tigers for $132.75 for six years the Cardinals maybe in some urgency for some help for a bat with some power. According to Jon Morosi the Cardinals are very intrigued in the possibility of landing Ian Desmond. He might be a short stop or a mutli-positional player for the Cards. He could be at a good bargain price for the Cardinals too. Dexter Fowler is also another potential outfielder they may consider.
