St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez will host his Second Annual Celebrity Bowling Fundraiser at Flamingo Bowl in St. Louis on June 16. Presented by Martinez’s Tsunami Waves Foundation, the charitable event is a way for fans to have fun while raising money for local children and families in St. Louis and Carlos’ home town of Puerta Plata, Dominican Republic.
“The support at last year’s fundraiser was amazing,” said Martinez. “This is a great way for me to give back to our fans and inspire kids in two communities that are close to my heart.”
The fundraiser takes place on Thursday, June 16, from 6 – 10 p.m. at Flamingo Bowl on Washington Avenue in downtown St. Louis. A variety of tickets are available for fans, including general admission, VIP and a limited number of bowler tickets which allow fans to bowl alongside Martinez and his teammates. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at tsunamiwavesfoundation.com.
The event includes red carpet arrivals, a VIP reception, silent auction, raffle and bowling challenge. More than $15,000 in auction and raffle items will be awarded to attendees during the event. Proceeds from the event benefit the Tsunami Waves Foundation in assisting underprivileged children with educational costs.
“Carlos’ enthusiasm and passion on the field is matched only by his mission to help others in our community,” said Michael Hall, VP of Community Relations & Executive Director of Cardinals Care. “Whether it’s partnering with Cardinals Care, or leading his own foundation, Carlos has continually demonstrated his dedication to helping those around him.” Fans can learn more about Cardinals players’ community efforts at cardinals.com/playerscare.
Cardinals Care was established to give fans a way of teaming up with Cardinals players and the organization to help children in our community – both on and off the baseball field. Since it was established in 1997, Cardinals Care has invested over $21 million to support St. Louis area children and built 21 youth ball fields in local under-resourced neighborhoods. 2016 marks the 13th year of Cardinals Care’s innovative Redbird Rookies program, a free baseball league for kids who otherwise might not have the opportunity to play. In addition to providing all the uniforms, gloves, bats, balls and other equipment needed for each team, Redbird Rookies also provides extensive off-field support in the areas of health, education, mentoring and the cultural arts for each of the nearly 4,500 kids who participate in the program each year.
