Diamondbacks intrested in Bell

MLB: Cincinnati Reds at St. Louis Cardinals

The Diamondbacks has added another name to their list of possible managers….David Bell. The Cardinals Bench coach is now one of five candidates for the job, sources tell Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. The others, all previously mentioned via other reports, are Triple-A Reno manager Phil Nevin, Boston Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo, Kansas City Royals bench coach Don Wakamatsu and ESPN analyst/former MLB infielder Alex Cora.

Bell has been the Cardinals’ bench coach the past two years after serving as the team’s assistant hitting coach in 2014. Piecoro notes that Bell’s brother, Mike, is Arizona’s farm director.

The D-backs are believed to have already sat down with the majority of the candidates on their list, sources tell Piecoro. Lovullo is still the perceived front-runner given his connection to new GM Mike Hazen.
