Cardinals Celebrate Hispanic Theme Day

The St. Louis Cardinals announced a number of new Spanish language initiatives in a continuing effort to better reach the team’s rapidly growing domestic and international fan base.

The Cardinals will stream eight Spanish language home audio broadcasts via and the At Bat mobile app.  The club will produce the broadcasts in cooperation with La Ke Buena Spanish internet radio to provide game play-by-play from announcer Polo Ascencio and color commentary from former Cardinals Assistant Hitting Coach Bengie Molina on Opening Day (April 2), April 4 & 9, May 2-3 and May 29-31.

“We’re proud to once again partner with the St. Louis Cardinals to produce eight Spanish home audio broadcasts,” said Brenda Garcia, Owner of La Ke Buena.  “We received tremendous feedback after the Cardinals’ first-ever cardenales_hat_cutoutSpanish home radio broadcasts last September and we look forward to streaming more Spanish broadcast games this year on”

In addition to the Spanish audio broadcasts, the Cardinals have added Fiesta Cardenales to the 2017 theme ticket schedule.  The team welcomes all members of the Latino and Hispanic community to Busch Stadium for a cultural celebration on Sunday, June 11 when the Redbirds take on the Philadelphia Phillies at 1:15 p.m.  Fans who purchase the special Fiesta Cardenales theme ticket will receive a one-of-a-kind Cardenales cap.  Guests will be able to enjoy a pregame event featuring current Cardinals players and music in Riverview Corner.  Additionally, a portion of each ticket sold will benefit the Hispanic Educational Cultural & Scholarship Fund.  Fans can visit to purchase tickets for Fiesta Cardenales or for more information.

The team has also recently launched a Spanish language Facebook page at to continue providing Hispanic and Latino fans with social content in their native language.  2016 saw engagement on existing Spanish language accounts grow by 244% on Facebook alone.  Mexico accounts for over 4.5 million Facebook fans across all MLB and team accounts.

Last season, the Cardinals launched @cardenales, a Spanish language Twitter account.  The account has amassed over 3,300 followers.  In addition to the @cardenales Twitter account, the Cardinals also established Los Cardenales, a video topic page on to house Spanish-language video features the Cardinals are producing as part of their expanding video brand journalism efforts.  The Los Cardenales video page can be found at
