This morning the Cardinals finally made a move to help the bullpen by acquiring John Axford from the Brewers for a player to be named later. Axford will help as an closer and middle relief. With Axford in the mix the Cardinals are planning for a push to win the Central with him. Still throwing at 96 mph he gives the Cardinals an edge. Axford happens to do well in Busch Stadium in which he has a 9 for 9 save opportunity. He has a 1.69 ERA in 16 games in St.Louis. The Cardinals will pay the rest of his salary and will have control over him for the next two years. I do like this move but I still feel the Cardinals need a starting pitcher with Westbrook possibly being out for the rest of the season.
